Hope Volleyball SummerFest is an annual one-day event set up as a fundraiser for several local charities. Now in their 29th year, the July 16th, 2011 Hope Volleyball SummerFest enjoyed a sunny, cloudless day. Included with every SummerFest is a bandstand hosting several Rock-Bands as well as beer gardens and various attractions. Held every summer at the Mooney's Bay Beach in Ottawa, the 2011 Festival raised approximately 100,000 dollars for several charities.
World Record
Hope Volleyball SummerFest 2011 may have set a Guinness World Record with more than 10,000 participants in the annual Festival. Festival organizers claim that the Hope Volleyball SummerFest is the largest one-day volleyball tournament in the world. Participating in the event is 1,032 teams playing on 86 courts using 162 volleyballs.
